The theme editor, is the styling component built into the session builder.

It allows you to style your session plans, then save the styles as themes to use over and over again.

You can even set a default theme to be loaded, anytime you create a session plan document.
The theme editor is only available in the session builder, so you must be editing a saved session plan document or be creating a new one.
In this tutorial, we'll create a new session plan but not save it. Instead, we'll setup the themes how we want them.

To start, open the session manager if its not already open.

1. Click "New Session Plan", and select the first template.
2. When the session builder is loaded, click "Theme Editor" on the top menu.

The theme editor will slide in on the left

3. Turn off all the borders by clicking the on/off switches

Notice that the following borders have been turned off on your document:
  • Logo Border
  • Header borders
  • Media borders
  • Text borders
4. Set the header style as "Header Style 4"

Notice that the header style has changed

5. Now set the theme as "Green Theme"

Notice that the title colours have all changed to green.

6. Change media style as "Media Style 8"

Notice that the media layers now have a shadow

7. Now set the title style as "Title Style 2"

Notice that the titles are now rounded.

We now want to add additional styling to the session document so it looks unique.

8. Click the session plan title, so the cursor is flashing and the formatting tools are enabled.

let's set the header background to black
9. Click the background color icon
This will bring up the background colour selector.

10. Click the black colour, and hit "Apply"
You will notice the background colour of the session plan header change to black.

Now we need to set the text color to white, as it defaults as black.

11. Click the "ink color" icon
This will bring up the ink colour selector.

12. Click the "white" colour, and "Apply"
You will now notice that when you type text into the header, the text colour is white.

Ok, we've now created our own style. Let's go ahead and save the theme so we can use it over and over again.

1. Click "Save" on the theme editor, this will open the save theme window
2, Enter "Tutorial Theme" and click "Save", the theme will now be saved.
3. Click "Ok" to close the notification.
4. Click "X" to exit the session builder,
5. Click "Ok" to exit without saving the session plan.

Loading the theme
1. Click "New Session Plan"
2. Click template #1
3. When the session builder loads, click "Theme Editor"
4. Click "Load"
5. Highlight "Tutorial Theme" and click "Load"

Notice that the theme loads, and applies the styles to the session plan.

Finally, lets set the theme we created as the default theme our session builder should use all the time when creating new session plans.

Setting the default theme
1. Click "Load" on the theme editor
2. Click to highlight the "Tutorial Theme" we created, and click "Set as default Theme"

You will now see a message appear saying your default theme has been set.

3. Click "Close"
4. Click "X" to exit the session builder.
5. Click "Ok" to exit without saving.
6. Click "New Session Plan"
Now notice that the default theme is set:

7. Click template #1
Notice that the session builder creates a new session using the default theme we set!

That's it.

You should now have a good understanding how you can style and customise the look of your session plans.
